Glade Park to host fire preparedness event Saturday, May 2nd, 2026

The second annual Glade Park Fire Fair is scheduled for Saturday in celebration of National Wildfire Preparedness Day.


The event will from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Glade Park Fire Station.

At the fair, attendees can learn about wildfire and evacuation preparedness, as well as fire mitigation efforts, according to a flier advertising the event.

According to organizer Bert Nieslanik, the event will include talks about fire behavior, ember showers, home hardening and home ignition zones.


Exhibitors are scheduled to include Master Gardners on hand to discuss drought-resistant plants; the Colorado West Land Trust discussing Glade Park fire mitigation efforts; the Bureau of Land Management with Smokey The Bear and wildland fire trucks; the Mesa County Mobile Emergency Command Center discussing 911 operations and emergency alerts; Red Cross discussing CPR and other emergency tools; evacuation specialist Kris Hurlburt discussing go bags and being ready to leave; Grand Valley Power discussing what to do if there is a wildfire; Atlasta solar discussing how to ready a solar system for a wildfire; the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department exhibiting trucks and equipment; and an inflatable fire safety house to help people learn what do in the event of a house fire.

The event is sponsored by the Two Rivers Wildfire Coalition and the Glade Park Wildfire Mitigation Cooperative.
