Black Mule Forestry recently had the opportunity to attend the Colorado Mule Deer Foundation fundraiser held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado on June 6th, 2026. The event brought together landowners, hunters, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts who share a commitment to wildlife habitat improvement, forest health, and responsible land stewardship throughout Western Colorado.

One of the highlights of the evening was donating a half-day of forestry services and fire mitigation work to the live auction. The auction raised funds to support conservation projects that benefit mule deer habitat and Colorado's natural landscapes. We were excited to learn that the winning bidder is a landowner from Silt, Colorado, and we look forward to helping him improve the health, safety, and resilience of his property.

The event itself was busy, fun, and full of energy! Between the live auction, raffles, and conversations with fellow attendees, there was no shortage of enthusiasm for conservation and land management. The bison tenderloin dinner was also a standout and quickly became one of the most talked-about parts of the evening. My mouth is still watering.

As a Western Colorado forestry contractor specializing in fire mitigation, defensible space creation, forest thinning, and wildlife habitat improvement, Black Mule Forestry is proud to support organizations that help protect and enhance our state's natural resources. Many of the same practices used to reduce wildfire risk also improve habitat conditions for wildlife, creating healthier forests and more resilient landscapes.

Events like this demonstrate the importance of collaboration between landowners, conservation groups, and forestry professionals. Whether it's reducing hazardous fuels around homes, improving forest health, or enhancing wildlife habitat, these efforts help preserve the places we all enjoy for future generations.

We would like to thank the Colorado Mule Deer Foundation, its volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended the fundraiser. A special shout out to our friend and Colorado Mule Deer Foundation member, Glenn Gaasche, for including us in this awesome event! Black Mule Forestry is honored to have contributed to such a worthwhile cause, and we look forward to putting our donated forestry services to work on the Silt property in the near future.

If you're looking for professional fire mitigation, forestry services, forest thinning, or wildlife habitat improvement in Grand Junction, Fruita, Silt, Rifle, or anywhere in Western Colorado, we'd be happy to discuss your project.
