We’re proud to be part of this important community event focused on wildfire awareness, preparedness, and protecting the places we all call home here in the Plateau Valley.
Communities like Collbran and much of Mesa County face very real wildfire risks every year, and conditions across Colorado are expected to make this fire season especially challenging. Drought conditions continue across Mesa County, with dry vegetation, below-average moisture, and increasing temperatures all contributing to elevated fire danger.
Earlier this spring, the Brushy Ridge Fire outside of Collbran became the first significant wildfire in Mesa County this season, reminding all of us how quickly fires can start and spread in our area. Â The combination of dry grass, dense vegetation, wind, and rugged terrain makes proactive fire mitigation more important than ever for local homeowners and landowners.
That’s why Black Mule Forestry is committed to helping our community stay informed and prepared. During the event, our team will be available to answer questions about defensible space, forestry mulching, fuel reduction, property cleanup, and practical ways to reduce wildfire risk around homes, ranches, and businesses.
We care deeply about this community because this is our home too. Protecting local families, properties, wildlife habitat, and the future of our forests is more than just the work we do — it’s something we genuinely believe in. Every mitigation project is about helping make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared for the future.
If you’ve been wondering what fire mitigation could look like on your property, we’d love to meet you and talk through your options. We look forward to seeing everyone there and continuing the conversation about how we can work together to help protect Collbran and all of Mesa County.
